On 1 June, this year’s Nordic Michelin stars were awarded at the historic theme park Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. More than 500 chefs and industry professionals participated in the celebration inside the Tivoli Garden’s Concert Hall.

Outside, in the gardens, the event was also celebrated all day with Tivoli Food Festival, and culminating with 700 staff from the Nordic restaurants cheering while watching the event on a big screen.

Once again, Copenhagen’s culinary scene was recognised for its quality and innovation, receiving a total of 31 stars across 21 restaurants. This cements the city’s position as the Nordic capital with the most Michelin stars.

Self-taught chef is awarded three stars

During the ceremony, Kadeau, lead by the self-taught chef Nicolai Nørregaard, was awarded its third Michelin star. This makes it the only new three-star restaurant in the Nordic countries this year.

Kadeau offers a cuisine inspired by the Danish island of Bornholm, and the restaurant received its first star in 2013 and its second in 2018. With this recognition, Kadeau joins local restaurants Geranium and Jordnær, who both retained their three stars.

As the Copenhagen restaurant noma has been operating abroad and not maintained a permanent address in Copenhagen, the restaurant lost their three stars, but have since announced they will re-open in the Danish capital

In addition to the new three-starred restaurant, three establishments, Akmé, Lille Mølle and Esse, all of which opened in 2025, were awarded their first Michelin stars.

Copenhagen is now home to 14 one-star restaurants, four two-star restaurants, and three three-star restaurants.

The Michelin Guide also honoured Andreas Ring Kjeldsholm Hansen, who took over the kitchen at Krogs Fiskerestaurant in May 2026, with the MICHELIN Young Chef Award.

This marks the second year in a row that the Nordic Michelin stars have been awarded in Denmark, following last year’s ceremony held in Odsherred.
