Market focus: Congresses

MeetDenmark supports the bidding work of Danish congress destinations and, at the same time, focuses on strengthening the local/national impact of Danish congress hosting – for Danish researchers and universities and Danish business, for example, and particularly within Denmark's areas of strength. Furthermore, MeetDenmark – together with VisitDenmark – seeks to increase international customers' awareness of Denmark's advantages as a congress destination.

Below, you can read more about three selected topics that are particularly relevant to congress work – namely knowledge about the effects of congress hosting, funding, and value-creating congress formats. Under the front-page theme 'Broader societal value', you can also read more about the so-called legacy work, which aims to ensure broader and lasting societal value from Denmark's many congress hostings.

Congresses are typically larger events aimed at developing, sharing and debating new knowledge within academic disciplines and professional fields. A significant part of this business area consists of international scientific congresses for researchers and other specialists. Scientific congresses are held by scientific associations and may also have a commercial exhibition, side events, legacy activities and so on attached to them.
