Copenhagen’s staying power continues to rise relentlessly. Nowadays, the capital region boasts some 34,000 hotel rooms, thereof more than 72 percent holding international eco-certifications. That's the name of Copenhagen's brand-new arena revealed in September 2021, built as an extension of the ever-popular Bella Center Copenhagen conference and congress center (Scandinavia’s largest) and with room for 7,000 seated guests. With it, the city can now host even larger international events in top-modern and truly innovative and sustainable settings. The arena is not only connected to the existing Bella Center via a large glass atrium, but also to the iconic AC Hotel Bella Sky, and together, the arena, the hotel, and the Bella Center and can now take in events with up to 30,000 participants. Read more here.

Villa Copenhagen
New to Copenhagen since mid-2020, the century-old Danish Post and Telegraph office, adjacent to Tivoli Gardens, now houses the Villa Copenhagen and is often referred to as the city’s 'Grande Dame Hotel of the 21st century'. The hotel offers approachable, conscious luxury through a commitment to the UN Sustaina-ble Development Goals and 390 awe-inspiring rooms, a spacious courtyard, contemporary bar, ambi-tious restaurant, and rooftop pool. NH Collection Copenhagen
In September 2021, NH Collection Copenhagen opened its doors to the public, welcoming guests to stay at the new 5-star hotel set on the scenic Copenhagen waterfront. The eco-conscious top venue totals 394 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a hotel bar, a lounge area, relaxation rooms and a fine range of small-to-large-scale meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 252 persons - all in an inspiring environment overlooking the Copenhagen harbour. Read more here.

Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport and The Hangar
In May 2021, Nordic Choice Hotels raised the bar for international conference venues further with the opening of Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport and the Hangar next to the hotel group’s existing Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport. With the addition, the hotel chain now offers 66.000 m2 divided between nearly 1000 hotel rooms, an enormous conference hall, and 33 meeting rooms just a four-minute walk from the airport. The Hangar, the name of the hotel’s new conference venue, is the largest conference venue directly connected to an airport in Northern Europe. It features 3900 m2 including a huge conference hall of 2500 m2 with space for up to 2,150 people - a classic conference, 5 Cessna planes, or 25 cars - and dividable into five separate sections for up to 500 people in each. Read more here

Scandic CPH Strandpark
This 4-star hotel opening back in May 2021 is perfectly located just some 600 meters from Copenhagen International Airport. In addition to offering top modern conference facilities seating 400 up to delegates, the 24,000m2 hotel has 357 rooms, underground parking, a private marina, a restaurant and a sky bar, a huge wellness & spa area with sauna and indoor pool – all with excellent views of the Øresund Strait and the Øresund Bridge linking Greater Copenhagen with neighbouring Sweden. Read more here.

Comwell Copenhagen Portside
In January 2021, the award-winning Comwell Group opened its first hotel in the Danish capital. Located in Copenhagen’s developing urban district of Nordhavn, the Comwell Copenhagen Portside (Dolce by Wyndham). The 4-star hotel is designed by the Danish makers Arkitema Architects, who drew inspiration from the harbour areas’ historic warehouses to create a 493-bedroom hotel with an additional 18 conference and meeting rooms with a total capacity of 600 pax. as well as an exciting underground event space. The eco-certified venue lies conveniently next to Nordhavn’s brand new Metro station with a direct link to the city center and is already known for its signature green (plant) walls, Nordic interior and artwork, and airy roof gardens. Read more here.

The Darling
There’s a new darling in town too. In November 2020, a new design guest house opened in the heart of Copenhagen. Surrounded by the very best of Danish design and art, by the likes of Finn Juhl, Hans Wegner, Poul Kjærholm, Arne Jacobsen, and of younger, lesser-known talented local designers and artists, the works take center stage at this little design heaven set in a charming building from the early 18th century. The approx. 100 m2 and one-bedroom residence is the perfect sanctuary for design aficionados slash business travelers with a hang for design – and the pieces one can’t live without, can be purchased online too. Read more here.

h27 (formerly Hotel Twentyseven)
The Motel One-owned hotel h27 has been reimagined as the city’s latest downtown boutique hotel. A major interior makeover of their 200 rooms, hotel foyer, courtyard, and other co-sharing areas has added new soul to the hotel with an emphasis on quality mid-century Danish design. Adding a little Danish “hygge”, the rooms have been re-categorized as e.g., “Cozzzy”, “Pocket” and “Lux”. Read more here

The Socialist
Housed in an old transformer station in the heart of Copenhagen, the Socialist is a design hotel with the most striking of visual expressions. From the outside, its bronze industrial façade appears closed and anonymous, but within lies an interior of exquisite materiality, and a place of vibrant social interaction - where the city’s creative community, in-the-know locals, and ever-curious visitors come to work, play, and stay. Aparthotel ZOKU Copenhagen
ZOKU Copenhagen opened in early 2021 with 160 loft-style aparthotel rooms, including fully equipped kitchens, private dining areas, and misc. standard hotel room amenities. Situated on Amager, yet close to central Copenhagen, the cool capsule living and co-working space is a great solution for extended stays. Zoku comes with a central garden, a rooftop greenhouse with and communal spaces, and its hotel restaurant is run by Kavit Shah (a former staff member at the 3-starred Michelin restaurant Geranium) who focuses on healthy meals based on local and sustainable ingredients. Read more here

Marienlyst Strandhotel (Seaside Resort)
Facing the strait of Øresund and located in Elsinore just 1 hour from Copenhagen Airport, this 4-starred seaside resort offers stunning ocean views, modern conference facilities, an award-winning Spa. The hotel currently offers 280 rooms and is busy expanding with another 55 rooms. It also belongs to the area’s largest and most modern conference hotels and offers refreshingly new and different frames for staging meetings and conferences from 3 to over 400 participants. Another new conference with a capacity of up to 180 people is also in pipeline with access to the hotel’s rooftop terrace overlooking the sea. Next House Copenhagen
Arp-Hansen Hotel Group, the largest local hotel chain with more than 4,350 rooms and 100 conference rooms distributed among 12 hotels and one hostel at the best addresses, plans to open a second budget friendly hostel just a stone’s throw from Copenhagen Central Station, Tivoli Gardens, and the harbour front. Dubbed Next House Copenhagen, the new hostel will have a capacity of 1,650 guests across 433 rooms, of which around half will be 4-bed dorm rooms, one-quarter small, gorgeously-designed double rooms, and the rest 6-bed dorm rooms - all of which have private toilet and bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. The 12 storey venue will comply with DGNB certification for sustainable building and includes e.g., solar panels, and it comes with hanging gardens, two rooftops with great city views, fitness and yoga, quiet rooms, 4 bars, a cinema, etc. Read more here.

Scandic Spectrum
Also worth looking out for is the Scandic Spectrum expected to open in early March 2022. The hotel will become Scandic's largest and most spectacular hotel to date with 632 rooms, an entire floor devoted to restaurants, bars, and a terrace with excellent views of Copenhagen city, a 25m long pool, and multiple green oases, and sparkling new meeting and conference facilities. It will be located on Kalvebod Brygge, a prime site in downtown Copenhagen, close to some of the capital’s most attractive sights, including the Tivoli Gardens, and to the city’s walkable waterfront.

Scandic Nørreport
Another Scandic hotel is expected to open in June 2022 right in the middle of the city at Nørreport, hence thee name Scandic Nørreport. The 4-star hotel will offer 100 hotel rooms, a restaurant, skybar, and rooftop terrasse with spectacu-lar views of the Copenhagen skyline and will be the perfect choice for both a weekend getaway or when visiting the city for business. Read more on both Scandic properties here

25hours hotels Copenhagen
And finally, also in Spring 2022, the 25hours hotels will open their first hotel in Denmark right in the historic heart of Copenhagen. The new boutique hotel is to be named ‘25hours Hotel Round Tower’ as will be located adjacent to the city’s landmark observatory, The Round Tower, built by King Christian IV. The complex will comprise of four buildings with 243 rooms, a large wellness area, bar and café, and a cozy court-yard open to hotel guests and locals and lies just a 5-minute walk from central bus, Metro, and train hub Nørreport. Read more here.
