Copenhagen Named Best XL Meeting Destination 2025/26 at Meetings Star Awards
Copenhagen has once again been recognised as the leading destination for large-scale international events, securing the XL Meeting Destinations Award 2025/26 at the Meetings Star Awards during Conventa 2026 in Ljubljana.
This marks the second consecutive year that Copenhagen takes the top spot in the XL category, which honours destinations capable of hosting events with more than 2,000 participants.
According to the official statement from The Meetings Star Awards, “Copenhagen is a meeting destination that consistently reshapes how events are conceived and delivered. While the term Meetovation is no longer used formally, its principles remain embedded in the city’s event culture, with a strong focus on content, authenticity and participant experience. Copenhagen is also a global leader in sustainability, from architecture and local food to responsible event practices.”
The benchmarking panel further highlighted that “Other destinations can learn from Copenhagen’s ability to embed sustainability and innovation into everyday destination management, reinforcing its position as the Best XL Meeting Destination 2025.”
The recognition underscores Copenhagen’s ongoing commitment to advancing the global meetings industry through sustainability leadership, legacy‑driven business events and innovative visitor experiences such as the CopenPay initiative.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this award again,” says Kit Lykketoft, Director of Conventions at Wonderful Copenhagen. “It reflects the strength of our collaborative ecosystem and the dedication of our partners across the Meetingplace network, as well as our fantastic clients and stakeholders. Their shared commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering exceptional experiences is exactly what keeps Copenhagen at the forefront of global MICE destinations," Lykketoft adds.
