Last year, more than 26 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport. Danish travellers accounted for 35% of passenger numbers, while the rest were international guests.
Besides being Europe’s most efficient airport, the Copenhagen travel hub comprises state-of-the-art shopping and restaurant experiences, offering travellers a taste of Denmark and its capital city on the go.
The airport’s architecture reflects the Nordic design traditions that have played a pivotal role in putting Copenhagen and Denmark on the map for travellers from all over the world. Denmark has moved up the list of interesting travel destinations for large numbers of people as the airport has opened up new air routes.
In the first quarter of 2016 alone, the number of tourists flying into Copenhagen Airport increased by more than 27% compared to the same quarter last year.
The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Over 300,000 dedicated readers – nearly twice as many as last year – cast votes for 7,394 hotels, 606 cities, 500 cruise ships, 236 islands, and 196 airports in an average survey time of 8.4 minutes. The result? The 1,402 best travel experiences in the world.
