Copenhagen is a leading destination within the MICE industry, hosting both large congresses and international sports and cultural events.
Wonderful Copenhagen’s efforts of attracting international congresses, meetings, business events and international cultural and sports events to Greater Copenhagen is carried out by the Convention department.
Every year Wonderful Copenhagen bids for around 100 association congresses in close collaboration with our partners, winning around half.
The congress efforts happens in close cooperation with the partners in the Meetingplace network, which assemble a long range of partners from the value chain around business tourism. The efforts are also carried out in cooperation with City of Congresses and the Danish development association for business tourism, MeetDenmark.
Convention also market the Greater Copenhagen region as a destination for meetings, incentives and other business events.

The department’s expertise handling international bidding processes is also set in play in relation to international events. Wonderful Copenhagen attracts major events in collaboration with Copenhagen City and Sport Event Denmark, focussing on both attracting cultural and sport events.
On top of attracting meetings and events Convention also work to develop the congress, meeting and event destination with sustainability and to use meetings and events for a greater value creation.
